NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING - JANUARY 28, 2013

The Johnson Township Zoning Commission recently completed another review process of two sections of the Resolution that were presented to the township residents in June 2012. The topics involved in this proposed amendment can be best grouped and summarized as follows:

  1. change "Uninhabitable Dwelling" section to delete requirement for fence.
  2. change "Pool" requirements. Delete all, but need to meet County requirements.
  3. change "Pond" requirements. Delete all, but need to meet CCSWCD and Ohio Regulations.
  4. renumbering of affected sections in Article X.
  5. changes involving zoning districts. Changes primarily involve addition of Conditional Uses to the "Official Schedule..." table.

The first three changes (1 thru 3) result from recognizing that previous 'new' requirements were more detailed than necessary. County and state requirements already exist in each case. ARTICLE X_ProposedChanges_Dec12.doc For topic 5, the "Official Schedule of District Regulations" was again changed to add Conditional Uses as deemed appropriate for each district. Official Schedule of District Regulations with Changes_Dec12.xls Conditional Uses were completely eliminated in the previous amendment.

All changes result from a) responses from previous Commission and Trustee Hearings, b) Prosecuting Attorney's reviews, and c) Logan-Union-Champaign Regional Planning Commission reviews, each resulting in recommendations for the Township Commission's consideration.

A public hearing is planned to be conducted to address these changes (amendments) on January 28, 2013. It will be held at the Johnson Township Building on Apple Rd, beginning at 7:30 p.m. All residents are invited and encouraged to attend.

Questionnaire & Aug 22nd Meeting Announcement

As a result of your responses to the township questionnaire sent out last year, we have been considering a variety of changes to the existing Zoning Resolution that are intended to reflect your collective thoughts and specific comments from that survey. This has been an ongoing process that continues to be addressed at each Commission meeting since the questionnaire results were tabulated and made available for your review.

The next Commission meeting, August 22, 2011 (see the calendar), will continue to address these changes. We invite, and strongly encourage, you to be part of the process as the Commission draws closer to finalizing the zoning changes that will soon be formally presented to you. At this meeting, a representative from the Logan, Union and Champaign Regional Planning Commission plans to be present. You can feel free to address any thoughts, issues, or concerns you may have regarding zoning and the regulations at this time.

See you then,
